Who we are

Buildings ID is a reference platform for the built environment: a database of buildings and the firms behind them, producers, open tenders, news and photography. Using the site means accepting what's on this page.

The information on this site

We compile building data from public sources, published records and submissions from the industry, and we check it as carefully as we can. We cannot guarantee it is complete or correct. Heights, dates, floor counts, team credits and ownership change, and sources disagree with each other.

Do not rely on anything here for a decision that matters — a purchase, a bid, a valuation, a design or a legal position — without confirming it independently. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.

Tenders and bids

Open tenders are pulled automatically from public procurement feeds. Deadlines and details are shown as the feed gives them and can be out of date or incomplete. Always read the official notice — it is the only binding version. We are not connected to any buyer and take no part in any procurement.

What you submit

• You keep your copyright. Photographs, drawings, project information and text remain yours. Submitting doesn't transfer ownership.
• You give us permission to publish it on Buildings ID and in our newsletter, with your credit shown. You can withdraw that permission at any time by writing to us, and we'll remove it.
• You confirm it's yours to submit — that you took the photograph or hold the rights, and that publishing it doesn't break someone else's copyright, an agreement you've signed, or a client's confidentiality.
• We may edit for length, clarity or house style, and we may decline to publish anything without giving a reason.

Firm and producer listings

A listing is a factual entry, not an endorsement. We don't vet firms or products for quality, and appearing here isn't a recommendation. Anything marked Sponsored has been paid for, and we mark it clearly every time.

Memberships and payments

• Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
• Recurring memberships continue until cancelled. Contact us to cancel and it stops at the end of the period you've paid for.
• If a paid feature doesn't work as described, tell us and we'll fix it or refund you.
• Consumers in the EU and UK have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. Nothing here reduces that.

Using our content

Read the site, share links, quote us with attribution — all fine and welcome. What isn't: copying the database wholesale, scraping it automatically, or republishing it as your own product. The individual facts aren't ours to own; the collection, the checking and the presentation are.

Photographs belong to the photographers who took them. Don't reuse them without a licence — the licensing page is where to ask.

Other people's sites

We link out to sources, firms and tender notices constantly. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what's on them.

What we can't promise

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it as it is. We can't promise it will always be up, or that it will be free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from using it — particularly losses from relying on data you didn't verify.

Nothing here limits liability for anything the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Changes

These terms may change as the platform grows. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site means accepting it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, and the courts of New York have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away the protections of the law where you live.
