The short version

We collect what you give us and nothing more. We don't sell it, we don't track you across other websites, and there are no advertising cookies on this site. You can ask us to delete anything we hold about you and we will.

What we collect

What we don't do

• No advertising or tracking cookies. The site sets no cookies at all for visitors. The one cookie that exists keeps the site owner signed in to the private admin page.
• No selling or renting your details. Not to anyone, at any price.
• No profiling. We don't follow you around other sites, and we don't build a picture of you from anywhere but what you typed here.

Who else sees it

Only the services that make the site work, and only the part each one needs:

• Hostinger — hosts the site and the mailboxes, so the information sits on their servers.
• MailerLite — sends the newsletter, so it holds subscriber email addresses.
• Stripe — takes payments. Card details go to Stripe directly; we never see or store them.
• CARTO and OpenStreetMap — draw the map. Your browser requests map tiles from them when you open the map view.
• Google Fonts — supplies the typefaces, so your browser requests those files from Google.

Nobody else. We don't pass anything to advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it

• Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
• Submissions — while we're reviewing them, and afterwards if we publish the work, so we can credit you.
• Payment records — as long as tax law requires, which in the EU is generally several years.
• Anything you ask us to delete — gone, unless the law requires us to keep a record of a payment.

Your rights

Under the GDPR — the European data protection law — you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable file. Write to info@buildingsid.com and we'll answer within 30 days. You don't have to give a reason.

If you think we've handled your information badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Photographs and credit

If you submit photographs, you keep the copyright. We publish them with your credit against every image. If you opted in to licensing, we may pass your name and contact details to a buyer once you've agreed to a specific licence — never before, and never without telling you. See the licensing terms for how that works and how the fee is split.

Children

This site is for people working in or studying the built environment. It isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email, we'll tell you.
